What is Project Nomad Kanab?

Project Nomad Kanab is the non-profit arm of Nomad Cafe & Campground, based in Kanab, Utah. Its mission is to create and promote spaces and events that connect communities of support through shared interests—through arts, music, experiential education, workshops, talks, and sustainable/natural building and growing practices. By freely sharing our skills, we can manifest the creations and worlds locked in our individual imaginations.

All projects—whether involving engineering, building, art, or expertise—will be sourced exclusively from the Kanab local community, highlighting the unique skills and talents of deeply experienced locals who’ve chosen Kanab as their home. The hope is to encourage and support future developers and festival organizers to “shop local” and uplift the community by utilizing local talent.

Festival Overview

Set against the breathtaking sandstone formations of southern Utah, Resonance Festival: Canyon Series is a two-day immersive gathering centered on presence, frequency, and connection—with nature, sound, and spirit. Hosted at the natural amphitheater of Angel’s Landing within Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, the space invites reverence, joy, and embodiment.

Unlike typical festivals, Resonance Festival cultivates an atmosphere of present engagement, reverent space. During the performances, we ask that guests who are in the amphitheater area, observe there will be no phones, no talking in the performance area. The idea is to create a space of present engagement for the audience as well as the artists, it’s like going to a play. Guests are encouraged to sing, hum, dance, meditate, or lay down—but verbal conversation and phone usage  are gently redirected to the designated social area, complete with a cacao station, non-alcoholic drinks, and potluck-style BBQ. No alcohol or smoking is permitted in the sacred space. With all that…Families, children of all ages welcome..just think of the performance space as a reverent space…like a wedding or a play..use best judgement.

Sage & Aera (Featured Guests/Headliner)

As a cornerstone and principal songwriter, banjo player, and guitarist in the Colorado transcendental folk group Elephant Revival, Sage Cook penned fan favorites like “Go On,” “Cosmic Pulse,” and “Down to the Sea.” In 2013, Sage and Aera embarked on a subsistence farming adventure, moving to Kansas in hopes that a deeper connection to the land would lead to greater self-realization. During this period of self-reflection and isolation, they co-founded the indie atmospheric folk-pop band WE DREAM DAWN with local drummer Weston Hill.

In 2023, rejuvenated and inspired by their work with the land, Sage & Aera chose to strip away all superfluous layers and lay their hearts bare as a purely acoustic duo. Emerging from their self-imposed isolation is a sound of intentional, pure creativity—organically rooted and cosmically inspired folk music for the modern era.

Them Spirits! – A Resonance Experience

Them Spirits! is a music, art, light, and sonic resonance collective. We are a group of musicians, photographers, event coordinators, farmers, electrical/sound engineers, mad scientists, conscious doers, health practitioners, trance players—and above all, Resonance/Frequency Junkies—all drawn from the Kanab, Utah area.

Them Spirits! play the natural spaces and canyons of Southern Utah as the very instrument, creating a space of presence, engagement, resonance, reverence, and connection to each other and the natural world.
